II Samuel

  1. 12:1  And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.
  2. 2  The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:
  3. 3  But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.
  4. 4  And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
  5. 5  And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die:
  6. 6  And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.
  7. 7  And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
  8. 8  And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.
  9. 9  Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
  10. 10  Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.
  11. 11  Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.
  12. 12  For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.
  13. 13  And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.
  14. 14  Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.
  15. 15  And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.
  16. 16  David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.
  17. 17  And the elders of his house arose, and went to him, to raise him up from the earth: but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them.
  18. 18  And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?
  19. 19  But when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead: therefore David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead.
  20. 20  Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the LORD, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eat.
  21. 21  Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.
  22. 22  And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?
  23. 23  But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
  24. 24  And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.
  25. 25  And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD.
  26. 26  And Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.
  27. 27  And Joab sent messengers to David, and said, I have fought against Rabbah, and have taken the city of waters.
  28. 28  Now therefore gather the rest of the people together, and encamp against the city, and take it: lest I take the city, and it be called after my name.
  29. 29  And David gathered all the people together, and went to Rabbah, and fought against it, and took it.
  30. 30  And he took their king's crown from off his head, the weight whereof was a talent of gold with the precious stones: and it was set on David's head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city in great abundance.
  31. 31  And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brickkiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.

  33. 3:19  Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
  34. I Peter

  35. 7  Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
  36. 2:21  For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
  37. 22  Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
  38. 23  Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
  39. 24  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
  40. Ephesians

  41. 5:2  And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
  42. Matthew

  43. 20:28  Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
  44. Galatians

  45. 2:20  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
  46. Genesis

  47. 21  And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
  48. Matthew

  49. 19:5  And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
  50. 23:37  O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
  51. John

  52. 6:50  This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
  53. 51  I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
  54. 52  The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
  55. 53  Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
  56. 54  Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
  57. 55  For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
  58. 56  He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
  59. 57  As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
  60. 58  This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
  61. Genesis

  62. 2:23  And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
  63. Romans

  64. 12:5  So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
  65. I Corinthians

  66. 12  For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
  67. 13  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
  68. 14  For the body is not one member, but many.
  69. 15  If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
  70. 16  And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
  71. 17  If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
  72. 18  But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
  73. 19  And if they were all one member, where were the body?
  74. 20  But now are they many members, yet but one body.
  75. 21  And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
  76. 22  Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
  77. 23  And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
  78. 24  For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
  79. 25  That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
  80. 26  And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
  81. 27  Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
  82. 6:16  What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
  83. I Timothy

  84. 3:16  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

  99. Colossians

  100. 1:28  Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
  101. 22  In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
  102. I Thessalonians

  103. 5:23  And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  104. I Peter

  105. 3:7  Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
